It's time to give up! : Uncle Garmin

By : Awaneer

Bye-bye Uncle Google! Now I'm switching to Uncle Garmin. After get lost a few times and lost 3-5 precious hours, I'm decided to buy GPS Garmin. It takes a courage for me to put aside my ego that I knew Madrid very well... Real thing is I dont!

GPS :Garmin.

Price : 99 Euros

Map : Full Europe updated.

Comments : Very well updated map... Good software... user friendly...easy to use... Easy to keep because quite small.

According to my study, the only reliable GPS product worldwide are Tom-Tom and Garmin. Their team did a quite depth study on the road and every related thing.

My Uncle Garmin on the move!

Lookatoo, Papago.... or other cheap GPS product made in Malaysia/China are only suitable in Malaysia condition and South East Asia country... That's why they are very cheap and can get around RM300.

If you want a very good GPS that you wont regret, listen to my advice : Go for Garmin or Tom-Tom!

Muchas Gracias.

Jetpod In Memory : The Price of Aero-Technology

Actually this article I wrote in 2009. I just refreshing it back in my awanengineer blog just for remind everybody the price that aerospace industry need to learn from their mistake. This is why when we compare the progress of technology in aerospace with other field like computer, electronic, telephone etc the aerospace seems far behind.. Please understand the price when you read this old article below.

Almost 2 years now since the tragedy...

Writer : Sahabat Insaf

Actually, a lot of my friends work to build the Jetpod. From designing, stressing and manufacturing. The company name is Avcen Limited Malaysia based in Technology Park Bukit Jalil. See the company profiles : http://www.avcen.com/

This company has a very good funding from British-based Avcen Ltd at London. It is a very sad news to hear the first 'victim' of this Malaysia Made product is in their first flight test. More sadly it killed its own inventor Michael Robert Dacre, 53, who was piloting the aircraft.

Michael Dacre Body's taken out after crashed

My friend engineer of the Jetpod said to me last year, when the Jetpod intend to make its first flight test, he don't want to be there... Hehe, now I know why he said that.. He already smells something fishy about the company of bad organised it is about their Engineering organisation and luckily he resigned and went to other company better. He's lucky....

Full composite aircraft Jetpod at crashed scene

To build an airplane is not like making a toy... Poor pilot... rest in peace with your invention.

Jetpod Avcen In Memories (2009)

From Local news;

Flying taxi crashes on test flight, killing its UK inventor (Update 2)
By RASLAN BAHAROM

TAIPING:
Newly-assembled aircraft Jetpod, by the British-based Avcen Ltd, crashed and burst into a ball of fire during a test flight from Tekah airstrip near here, killing its inventor Michael Robert Dacre, 53, who was piloting the aircraft.

The crash happened at 12.30pm Sunday. Dacre is also Avcen's managing director.

Avcen Limited Malaysia is based at Patimas Technology Centre, Technology Park, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur and Dacre had intended for the 8-seater flying taxi to be ready in 2010.

Taiping deputy police chief Supt Syed Abdul Wahab Abdul Majid said Dacre suffered severe burns and injuries and died at the scene.

The incident was witnessed by many residents, including retired soldier, Halim Hamid, 50, who lives in nearby Taman Saujana Jaya.

He said he was scooping shrimps to feed his pet fish at a disused pond about 50 metres from where the jet had crashed.

“Earlier, I saw it going down the runaway three times but it could not take off.

“However, on the fourth run, the jet took off into the air but at about 200 metres high, it shot vertically to the sky before veering to its left and then falling to the ground,” he said.

There was a loud explosion when it crashed but firemen who were at the scene managed to put out the blaze, he said.

Halim said the jet had been earlier transported in parts in a container to the airstrip about a week ago before it was assembled.

Police personnel at the scene were seen collecting the pilot’s burnt, dismembered limbs from the wreckage before sending his remains to the Taiping Hospital.

Some of the residents said a co-pilot had wanted to accompany the deceased on the test flight but Dacre decided to fly alone.

Several Royal Malaysian Air Force personnel were at the scene to check the wreckage.

Meanwhile, Bernama quoted Taiping Fire and Rescue senior operations officer Mohd Sobri Abdullah as saying that the fire and rescue personnel had been stationed at the airstrip since 8.30am on the request of the company.

He said the plane was at an altitude of 200 metres when it suddenly plunged to the ground and erupted into a ball of fire.

The fire and rescue personnel present provided emergency response but were unable to save the victim, he said, adding that investigations had commenced to determine the cause of the crash.

According to Wikipedia Jetpod is a design proposal for a very quiet aircraft that can take off and land in short distances (STOL), developed by Avcen Limited, a company formed in 1998 to promote development of the Jetpod.

A number of applications have been proposed, including as a military transport, an executive transport, and as a short to medium-range air taxi.

According to Avcen's publicity materials, the Jetpod's maximum speed is 550 km/h (350 mph, 300 knots).

It would need only 125 meters (135 yards) to take-off or land, allowing runways to be constructed close to the center of major cities, and would be sufficiently quiet to not be noticeable above city traffic.

The trip from Heathrow Airport to central London would take about 4 minutes and cost about $100.

Next Phase : Seville, Spain

My journey to the North!
By : Awaneer

Now I'm going for the next phase for my MRB training in Airbus Military in Spain.

It's Seville!!

Very nice town with a lot of beautiful scenery from old/antique buldings from hundreds of years before. But that info I got from my search in internet... I just arrived here so no pictures will be available on that parts.

If you have smartphone using android... I recon you download Triposo : Spain Guide. It will show you every interesting place availabe in Spain.

The journey Cadiz to Seville very relaxing... Not so many cars on Sunday... So I take half way using normal road crossing village and farms and also some small towns before Seville. Another half way I used Autopista (Highway with Toll)... Very convenient driving and many times my speed goes more that 130 km/hr... I manage to control it because I don't want to end up my money goes to summoned.

Small town before Seville.

Big Bull!

I arrived at my apartomentos in seville around 1 pm.... It called Domocenter... Near Bermujos.

I don't know surely how to described it when firstly I enter my apartment... So complete-cleaned-spacious-modern type...

With only pays 650 Euros for 27 nights the facility and all other service is for me more that the prices. The prices actually 750 Euros but the Airbus Military manage to get discount base on commercial agreement before. My apartment before in Cadiz cost me 1500 euros for 33 nights and the service is hell slow... They never take my garbage... never wash my dishes... never clean up the floor....

For me Domocenter Bermujos is Superb! Let's see what I have snap for you...

The kitchen and the hall room.

First thing I do when enter is turn on my laptop and get the internet connection! Superb speed!

Nice bathroom!

My bedroom... But all my times I spend at the hall.. So that I don't feel so lonely.

I will spend my time here until July and then go for the next phase at Madrid... Another 2 months before this lonely Engineer to come home for Ramadhan and Rayaaaa!!!

Hehe... Wish me luck!

p/s Today is my wedding anniversary. Already two years now... hehe I almost forgot
